Severn Place

Severn Place lies to the East of the Grafton Shopping Centre, adjacent to a large office building and the two-lane East Road, yet, at its southern end, has a two-storey domestic scale.  There have been several unsuccessful attempts to develop the area between Severn Place and East Road to a much higher density.

These apartments occupy part of a car park and replace a Nissen hut on a site owned by the developer, and were built in two phases.  The southern portion has a curved metal roof, coming down to the scale of the adjacent semi-detached houses, and on the façade is a sculpture alluding to the River Severn.
