We have prepared preliminary designs for extending a family house in south Cambridge
We are delight to announce that NRAP Architects have been selected at competitive interview by Corpus Christi College, Cambridge for the refurbishment of the Grade I Old House Kitchens, including Old Hall. The College seek not only to improve the kitchen facilities, but also to improve the appearance, functionality and spatial arrangement of Old Hall and the circulation spaces serving the kitchen, servery and Dining Hall. The project will involve solving a number of complex architectural issues that will require skill and modesty to resolve. Old Hall, originally used as a dining hall was converted to a kitchen in 1826. The photograph opposite was taken in the 1930′s before a floor was inserted in 1948.
Part II: We are seeking to employ an architectural assistant with Part II qualifications (or equivalent) and experience of delivering well-detailed architecture. The successful candidate will be a confident, self-motivated and articulate individual, with good all-round ability and the capacity to work creatively as part of a small team. We would expect prospective designers to have a broad skill-base and to demonstrate a high degree of passion and commitment. Experience of VectorWorks would be an advantage. We have a track record in providing assistance to Part II employees wishing to take their professional exams and in providing the required range of project and site-based experience. NRAP Architects are committed to supporting Part II graduates interested in completing Part III professional qualifications.

We are always interested in hearing from talented people.
We have recently been appointed by St. Bedes Inter-Church School following a competitive interview, to design a new performance space. A very intimate environment is achieved through a simple thrust stage arrangement, with back-stage areas housed in the retained drama space. Our design utilises the stack effect to promote natural ventilation with air introduced into the space at low level and discarded though a roof top cowl.
We have been developing concepts for pop-up teaching pods to facilitate one-to-one language teaching for EF.
Our scheme for a new house off de Freville Avenue, in the West Chesterton Conservation Area, was unanimously voted for planning approval last week. The building has been designed as an L-shaped plan with a south facing courtyard shaded by a mature horse chestnut tree. The combination of a timber structural frame, high levels of insulation, extensive roof lighting and a wood burner should ensure that the building has a low energy consumption.
Thanks to Barrie Munn who fed, watered and puts us up (and put up with us) in his splendid Grasshopper Hotel overlooking Glasgow Central Station. We managed to visit the delightful but almost deserted Burrell Museum, as well as having a tour of the more vibrant Reid building.
It was good to see the window cleaners arriving this morning. Although there are a few odds and ends to finish off, it looks like Christmas lunch might be served after all. Thank you to everyone who has been involved. We are thrilled with the result and look forward to celebrating completion early in the new year.
