The RIBA have invited NRAP Architects to conduct a tour of EF Language School at 6pm on Thursday 8th October, as part of their “GREAT BRITSH BUILDINGS” season. Richard will give a short talk before leading a walking tour of the building. The project was the 2015 winner of an Historic England Conservation Award, an RIBA Regional Award and a Cambridge Design and Construction Award.
The RIBA Judges described the project as ”a carefully considered scheme that had tremendous thought and consideration to the existing structure and how a new modern piece of architecture can sit aside and also influence the way in which an older building would adapt to fit its new requirements”.
Tickets can be purchased from the RIBA by contacting Delyth Turner-Harriss at:
At Robinson College last night NRAP Architects picked up two Awards: An RIBA Regional Award and an Historic England Conservation Award, for their Language School in Cambridge. This follows close on the heels of their success at the Cambridge Design Award last month.
The RIBA Journal is quoted as saying, ”The judges felt this to be a carefully considered scheme that respected the existing structure while inserting a completely modern piece of architecture, well suited to its pedagogical purpose. The level of invention, innovation and originality was marked and especially evident in the internal and external detailing of old materials with new ones.”
